About Us

The genesis of AFRO4 cannot be to told without the label, which began with a friendship struck-up in 2017 between Bassist/Jazz Musician Bright Gain and Jazz Enthusiast/ Impresario, Geoffrey Kwale. Subsequently, a collaboration on a music project blossomed; sharing the vision of starting a label similar to what Jerry Moss did in the 1960s with the independent label; A & M Records. Hence, AFRODYSSEY MUSIC LTD was founded.

Along with the label, a “Super Band” was formed comprising of musicians from different regions of Africa. Although the initial consideration was for a Quintet, ultimately it was agreed that it should be a Quartet comprising of multi-instrumentalist musicians, with Bassist Bright Gain being the foundation and Band Leader; AFRO4 was born. Basically, the label is focused on projecting the full tapestry of African music or genres as if on an African sonic Journey.
